Police say a Bloomington man drowned when trying to wade across a flooded road after his car wrecked on Indiana 157 in Greene County on Tuesday.
James L. Chambers was pronounced dead at the scene. The 77-year-old man’s death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
Chamber’s family reported him missing from his home on Monday. Family members told police Chamber’s was an Alzheimer’s patient.
A Greene County Sheriff Deputy found him at the accident scene on Tuesday.
Police say Chambers lost control of his car in high water and crashed into a utility pole head-on. Police believe he got out of his car to wade to higher ground and drowned.
